Now that the dust has settled, we've closed and are slowly moving into our new home. I wanted to take a moment to tell you my thoughts on the support I received from VU throughout the process.I am a retired Marine, and in my lifetime I have written fewer than half a dozen reviews of any kind. I felt compelled to write this one because of the exceptional support I received from Charlie Holsten.I am the first to admit I wasn't an easy customer. Our home search stretched over roughly five months. We pursued multiple properties, had offers fall through for various reasons, and faced more frustration than I’ve experienced in any previous home search.Through it all, Charlie was outstanding. He prepared every loan estimate promptly - likely 15 or more over those five months - and clearly explained each one. No matter when I emailed him, day or night, he responded quickly.Even when my emails were less than ideal, unprofessional, and/or borderline disrespectful, he replied with consistent courtesy, respect, and professionalism. When I grew frustrated, he remained calm and reassuring. Whenever I considered leaving Veterans United, he stayed with me, kept the process moving, and ultimately helped me close with VU.Charlie is an absolute A-team professional. His knowledge, responsiveness, patience, and commitment made a difficult process manageable and successful.YES - I would use VU again, and YES, I would specifically request Charlie!
Malachi and team made moving easy. They were all great and very professional. I highly recommend Veterans United!
My experience was very smooth and simple. I have used Veterans United twice once for a purchase and now a refinance. I was always informed during the process and if I had any questions they were answered quickly.
This is the second home and third mortgage we've funded with Aimee Hall through Veteran's United. We keep going back to her because we know we can expect professionalism, timliness, and follow-through. Expect another call in a few years when it's time for a new duty station!

Nothing else to add
First and foremost, Thank you all! Second, I'm glad it's over! At 55, this is my first home purchase. The first home I went under contract with was not so great, but I lay the blame on a shifty seller and an even shiftier seller's agent! Lesson learned. Regroup and got it done right the very next house with a new agent (Christi) I believe picked by Nicki & facilitated by Nicki & Rachel. In the end you all got me into the home I wanted so thank you!
I was surprised at the disorganization we encountered with Veterans United during this home buying process. Our first home purchase was pretty painless, but this one was consistently plagued with things not being completed in a timely manner.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Matthew,
I’m sorry to hear this homebuying experience didn’t live up to the positive experience you had with us the first time around. I can understand how frustrating it must have been to encounter repeated delays and feel like things weren’t being completed when you expected them to be.
I’d appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what happened and make sure your concerns are heard. Please reach out to the Client Advocate team at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. Our team is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday. Messages received outside those hours are typically answered the next business day.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
Spencer and his team made the home buying process quick and easy, all while getting me a great deal!
Derek was always available and responsive! Top notch professionalism and very helpful along the entire process!

Very good experience. Julia Cobb was an incredible loan officer. This was our second time working with her and she was exceptional.
